Project Details
The Beck square development was awarded Apartment Development of the Year at the British Homes Awards 2021. The complex design located in north-east London consisting of three towers and two low-rise blocks was designed by Pollard Thomas Edwards and is called Motion. The three towers, with a total of 300 high-standards flats, are clad in matte-brown and glossy ivory panels, creating a style blending accents of Art Deco and modern design.
It was described by one of the judges as "An imaginative and bold scheme that looks to push beyond the typical boxy brick aesthetic of residential schemes from the past decade. Certainly a thought-provoking scheme, possibly with a hint of Marmite, which makes it exactly the kind of project that needs to be celebrated. The bold expression of the towers also goes beyond aesthetics, which otherwise could have been the development's downfall - the resultant homes are generous, light-filled and well planned. An exciting contribution to the housing offer in London."
